Getting Back in the Swing of Things

After some hitches (including a rather literal run-in with a deer on the way back to Michigan once), I'm all moved and settled in Chicago and slowly I'm getting back into things. I've had to spend more time recovering than I would have liked, but it's about time for a progress update!

After some hitches (including a rather literal run-in with a deer on the way back to Michigan once), I'm all moved and settled in Chicago and slowly I'm getting back into things. I've had to spend more time recovering than I would have liked, but it's about time for a progress update!

COMICS

Verdant Shadows: first three pages of the first chapter complete

It took me a long time to figure out my coloring progress even once I got started, and I ended up redoing the first page entirely twice. I've also realized my inks weren't quite what they should have been with full color, so I'm having to redo them page-by-page as I go in this chapter, but it is finally coming along and I'm very excited about that. (Also relieved. I was starting to feel stuck.)

WRITING

Errant Mind: first eight chapters drafted, three more than last update

I haven't managed to get much writing done despite a plan to knuckle down and do that this month. This is partly because I got majorly interrupted earlier in the month, and partly because my ability to write tends to be the last creative thing to recover when I've been too tired and stressed for a while. I'm hoping to get back to this soon, at least in December.

Short stories: still on hold

I've had a few more ideas, at least, and maybe I'll start working on one of those before I get back to novel work.

ART

Miscellaneous: six pieces finished since last time

I've been doing more just-for-fun and not-large-enough-for-print drawings lately and that's been nice. No big projects right now.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Nothing with the big camera lately; I took a few photos of the first snow on the not-yet-fallen leaves while I was back in East Lansing for longer than planned:

So things are going! I should have another update next month and be back on my regular semi-monthly update schedule here on Scattered Leaves.
